How secure your web applications are?

Companies spend enough money to build their web and mobile applications, which is good. You will be able to get an application at a cheaper rate, but who knows how reliable it is. So, it is always good to build your application from a good company. I don’t know how to define the term “good”. The best thing you can do is to talk with existing customers of the company and get their feedback.

A good company will consider all aspects of the application including the security of the application itself and of course the customer data. Unless there are no strong security measures, you are spending money to the ocean.

As a hosting specialist, we encourage you to design your application architecture and also the hosting architecture. If we think about 2016-2017, it was witnessed severe ransomware attack. The ransomware attack wiped data from a lot of companies. Lack of security on servers and on the office computers were the major reasons for such attacks.

This document does not deal with how to protect your computers in your office or where the developer is working. We would like to consider few server-side security measures. As a hosting company, we see the activities on servers and in the network every day. If we do not act proactively all applications hosted on the servers or network may be infected within seconds. Vulnerabilities in the applications are used by hackers to attack the site.

Servers can be protected using various security systems. For example, by using a good web application firewall outside the server, a strong firewall in the data center, again application firewalls on the servers, good antivirus etc. And, above all a good team to maintain it.

In all cases, we should have proper backups which can be used to restore your application at any time. The backup should be planed based on your application.
